Define the viewing direction
A window graphic may be applied inside or outside and read from either direction. Write those two choices separately in the brief. They affect artwork orientation and the construction the supplier needs to review.
Photograph the glass and surrounding frame, then mark the usable area. Keep graphics away from locations needed for safe visibility and follow any applicable placement requirements.
Choose the visual treatment
Compare an opaque background with a transparent appearance. If the design includes clear areas, think about the changing background behind the glass and whether small text will remain legible.
Adhesive film and static-cling constructions are distinct options. The intended surface, duration, handling and removal requirements should guide the choice. Confirm the actual material and application method rather than treating the names as interchangeable.
Test the intended arrangement
Review the artwork at its final dimensions and ask how white ink, clear areas and orientation will appear in a proof. Include cleaning, moisture and exposure conditions. Minimum order is 1,000 per design and specification; supplier validation and the quote determine the final construction, price and timing.
