THE PRINT NOTES / PLANNING GUIDE

Planning stickers for water bottles

The bottle, its surface and its cleaning routine matter as much as the artwork.

Describe the bottle

Start with the surface: glass, painted metal, coated metal or plastic. Include a photograph of the actual bottle and note whether the application area is flat, tapered or curved. A design that looks right on a flat screen may wrap awkwardly around a narrow bottle.

Record the available width and height, keeping the design clear of seams, grips and existing safety information. If the sticker has small text, print a paper version at the intended size to judge readability.

Separate the conditions

Tell the supplier whether the bottle will be chilled, carried outdoors, washed by hand or put in a dishwasher. These are different requirements. A material name alone does not establish resistance to water, abrasion, cleaning chemicals or heat.

Ask for the proposed material, adhesive and finish to be evaluated together on the intended surface. Keep any cleaning or durability claim off the artwork until the actual construction supports it.

Build the brief

Include the design name, dimensions, quantity, bottle material and expected use. Keep each artwork and specification on its own line. The minimum is 1,000 per design and specification; suitability, price and timing are confirmed during review.
